Passage kitSerum contains trypsin inhibitors. Thus it is important to remove traces of serum using solution 1. The incubation time for the trypsin (solution 2 of passage kit 1 & 2) and the degree of force required to get the cells into single cell suspension varies between cell types. Solution 3 will inactivate the remaining trypsin and prevent cell damage. Since solution 3 (of passage kit 2) contains soybean trypsin inhibitor, it may be used for cultures in serum-free medium, too.
Passage kits 1 & 2 are recommended for the cell types listed below:
- → Endothelial cells, chondrocytes, osteoblasts, periost cells, fibroblasts, myocytes, epithelial cell
Passage kit 3 contains dispase to detach cells highly sensitive to trypsin and is recommended for:
- → Keratinocytes, melanocytes
Passage kit 4 was developed as an universal and easy passage kit. It consist of a recombinant enzyme as detachment solution. To use a neutralising solution is not necessary. It is recommended for:
- → All adherent cell types
Cryopreservation is a process of preserving cells by cooling to low sub-zero temperatures. At these low temperatures, any biological activity is effectively stopped. However, when cryo solutions are not used, the cells being preserved are often damaged due to freezing during the approach to low temperatures or warming to room temperature. Phenomena which can cause damage to cells during cryopreservation are solution effects, extracellular ice formation, dehydration and intracellular ice formation.

If you need flexibility in your experiments, we are able to provide you with supplement kit that enables you only to add that supplement you really want to give into your basal culture medium.
